Remove Your Auto Decal Without Damaging the Decal or Your Car

Badges and car decals are things that we commonly place on our vehicles in an attempt to make them stand out. We want our vehicle to be an extension of our personality and the badges and decals let that happen. The problem that many of us run into is that at some point we seem to outgrow whatever we have placed on the car and want to remove it so that we can replace it with something that shows another aspect of our personality.

Many people think that removing the badges and car decals would be difficult but this is not the case at all. As long as you have the proper equipment and don't try to rush through the process, removing a chrome auto decal is easy.

The great thing about removing the chrome auto decals that you have attached to your car over the years is that you won't have to go out and purchase any special equipment. All of the tools that you need are already in your home; you just have to gather them up. The items you'll need to remove the chrome auto decals that you no longer want include a pair of pliers, a hot dryer, and a length of wire. With these three things you are ready to detach your old chrome auto decal and make room for the new one you've been dying to show off. If possible try to make sure that the pliers and the wire are coated with plastic which will decrease the odds of you accidentally scratching your car's paint job.

Use the pliers, and gently tug on corner of the decal free of the car. Continue pulling. Each time the auto decal feels like it isn't pulling free, slide the sire between the decal and the car to break through the grit and dirt that is holding it in place. Make sure that you keep your movements as smooth as possible.

The very last thing you want to do when it comes to removing your old chrome auto decals is to just rip them off. While pulling might get them off the car, it will most likely ruin the auto decal. By warming the decal before you use the wire and pliers to gently remove it from your car, you will be able to tug it free without destroying the decal, and even more importantly, the finish on your car.

If you have removed your chrome auto decal and notice that there is a sticky residue where the decal used to be, you are going to have to use warm water and soap to remove the residue. The warmer the water is, the easier it is going to be to remove the residue. After removing the auto decal, you are going to want to make sure that you have stored the decal in a safe place where it won't get lost.
